Nina Karlsson - is a band named after its soloist.
Nina Karlsson is an extraordinary phenomenon in the musical firmament, who has invented a name for her style: “sincere jazz”. Being at one of her concerts is like coming into contact with the long forgotten aesthetics and luxury of pure art.
The singer has absorbed the very best of jazz, funk, blues and musicals, and her songs are infused by the emotions and images that well up in her soul. And this ordinary St.Petersburg girl is transformed - now into a bright cabaret singer, now into a silent movie star...
She used to be a model and graduated from Saint-petersburg Conservatory. Together with her piano Nina Karlsson succeeded to impress the city so deeply, as if it was a big jazz band or rock band
It's not something special, when models start to sing. But they have never done it so successfully.
Saint-Petersburg and Moscow fell in love with this sincere and touching music, unique voice and open-hearted Nina. People look forward to her gigs and bring their friends.
SOBAKA magazine gave “NEW NAME 2008 Award” to Nina Karlsson
In July 2008 Nina Karlsson started playing with her friends-musicians, so it was the birth of NINA KARLSSON band.
Viktor Pro added to songs bass groove and flute and Alexander Potapov is responsible for the rhythm.
Up tp 2010 Nina Karlsson can be proud of more than 20 songs, concert tour around Baltic countries, regular gigs in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. They even visited island Sakhalin, at the Far east of Russia!
The band took part in Stereoleto festival (Nick Cave as headliner) and Lady In Jazz festival.
Musicians shared one stage with Cameron Carpenter, famous organist, in the frames of Cartier Christmas Evening. They performed as special guests at International Investment Convent, and the President of Russian Federation listened to Nina Karlsson.
